Polepeople Set 'The World's Highest Pole Dance' Record!

On the morning of September 7th Polepeople Director Alison Hudd and 4 of her friends summitted Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and performed The Worlds Highest Pole Dance at an altitude of 5985 meters!

The five strong team travelled to Kilimanjaro equipped with a pole specially designed for them by a group of engineers who also make equipment for British Antarctic expeditions, to take part in the feat in aid of Women and Children in Africa, a charity that works in areas of extreme humanitarian need to provide self sustaining projects in education, health and rural development - www.wacia.org.

The girls spent six days trekking up 19,500 feet, through five climatic zones ranging from desert to rainforest, and through sub zero temperatures to reach the snow covered summit of the mountain.

After a very tough trek through the night, the girls arrived at the peak at sunrise. In extreme conditions of -30 degrees, the girls constructed the pole and secured it with a series of guy ropes. They all performed their moves, setting the record for the world's highest pole dance!

Alison said "We were warned that it would be tough but none of us imagined how tough! The air is so much thinner at high altitudes and we were exhausted being in such cold temperatures and having climbed so long! We are a pretty fit bunch after all the training and the extra pole dancing classes to get us in shape, but it was a real challenge so we're excited to have accomplished such a feat! "
